Homelessness
Los Angeles has a significant homeless population due to the lack of affordable housing and mental health support, as well as a dearth of other services that might lessen the problem of homelessness. There are estimated to be over 75,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County, a 9 percent rise over last year. And though hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on shelter to aid in the effort to house people, tent encampments still inundate the city.
